The Vikings will face the Bears on Monday Night Football. The Vikes will need to win this one or else they'll fall into last place... so let's take a look at the Bears' depth chart.
My thoughts:
The Bears' way to win this game is using their run game all day long, having their good O-line block the way. Their one win was against the Steelers, and they were able to use Howard and Cohen to wear down the defense.
Mitchell Trubisky, the 2nd overall pick in this past year's draft, only had one year of experience at North Carolina but he looked really good during the preseason. The Vikings will need to deliver constant pressure in order to force poor throws from him. It helps that he has the worst WR corps in the league.
The Bears defense is OK, but there are no great or elite players out there. Their best run stopper, Danny Trevathan, is suspended, so establishing the run should be easier, but still difficult with Cook. Akiem Hicks and Pernell McPhee are very good players that can pressure the QB, but thankfully we are starting a far superior O-line this time around. TJ Clemmings + Norv's horrendous adjustments nearly got Bradford killed in this game last year.
There aren't exactly a lot of liabilities on this defense to poke at. Whoever Marcus Cooper or Kyle Fuller is lined up against should be targeted frequently. If the Bears suffer any injuries, they have rather poor depth (especially their offense) and may not be able to handle those hits very well.
One last thought - the Bears spent just one draft pick on defense. Perhaps trading all those picks away to move one spot up to nab Trubisky wasn't a great idea.
Any thoughts?
