I'm waiting for the story to break that Kraft has been funneling Brady cash illegally to keep his cap number down...
There's no doubt Kraft has been doing something to make up for Brady always giving a discount. I doubt he's taking less money out of the goodness of his heart.
I don't know, I think it's possible. Brady is a smart guy and his legacy is clearly important to him. He want's to be the GOAT. Nobody is going to remember anyone for how much money they made. And as Minni said, he's making a ton on endorsements, and his wife is worth more than he is, so he's not hurting for money. He's on board with the system.
I know it's easy for me to say knowing it'll never happen, but if I were an elite QB, I'd play for $10m a year if I played for a franchise that knew what it was doing and spent that money on a great supporting cast. Do you know anyone that argues how great QB's are based on their contract? Nobody remembers the money other than to say someone was overpaid. Now Carr and Stafford have to live up to those ridiculous contracts. Statistically Stafford hasn't been better than Keenum, he just throws the ball a lot more.
G GS W-L-T CMP ATT AVG YDS AVG TD PCT INT PCT LG YPG RATING SK YDS
Stafford (7 year average) 16 16 8-8-0 392 625 62.8 4564 7.30 28 (4.48%) 14 (2.24%) 87 285.2 90.6 37 235
Keenum 2017 15 14 11-3-0 325 481 67.6 3547 7.37 22 (4.57%) 7 (1.46%) 65 236.5 98.3 22 136
When it comes to averages and percents, Keenum beats him in every category except YPG which really comes down to how often they throw the ball. The only thing you can say is Stafford has been consistent and for Keenum it could have been a fluke year. Still, those aren't great numbers by Stafford. Certainly not elite or worthy of the contract he got. Again he just throws the ball a lot.
