Alright, so that is the exact same 2026 6th round pick that was conditionally sent to the Rams for Akers last year. So it seems those conditions were not met, or else the Vikings couldn't have made this trade. And it is the exact same return:
Is this the first time in sports that a player was traded to the same team twice for legitimately the exact same price?
In the sample of the 2023 season, Chandler was the better runner last year and it wasn't particularly close. In 2024, Akers has been better but frankly it's more due to Chandler being trash for whatever reason. It is a small sample size so it's hard to say, but depth was needed and I have been wondering since early August when they'd add another guy, so I'm not complaining.
Given this is the second straight year this front office has traded for a RB to ensure Chandler would be on the field less, it's hard to call the Chandler pick much of a success. He's already 26 years old and even with the OL run-blocking better, he's at 3.5 YPC. The 2022 draft class is basically down to a nice WR3 and one of the worst pass-blocking guards of the current era of football.

Well we wanted a RB to properly spell Aaron Jones....he's certainly better than Ty Chandler.
