And now, your week 6 Tanking Power Rankings:
#1 Cleveland Browns (0-6) 94 PF 157 PA
Last week: 33-17 L vs. Houston
Appearances on Power Rankings: 6 (2 in honorable mention)
Poor Browns fans. Another year of losing every game possible. The QB "controversy" is pretty sad between Kizer and Hogan. Kizer is slated to start again next week, and the cycle continues. At this point, neither player looks like even backup quality for a good team. They were down 33-3 until midway through the 4th quarter.
#2 San Francisco 49ers (0-6) 113 PF 146 PA
Last week: 26-24 L vs. Washington
Appearances on Power Rankings: 6
The 49ers are the first team in NFL history to lose 5 straight games by 3 or fewer points... This team can't catch a break right now, and they're not nearly as bad as their record shows. They finally moved on from Brian Hoyer, who was putrid last week going 4/11 for 34 yards. It's the offense that's holding this team back from a victory.
#3 New York Giants (1-5) 105 PF 132 PA
Last week: 23-10 W vs. Denver
Appearances on Power Rankings: 4
Maybe it was their HC holding back this team. McAdoo relegated his play calling on offense to the OC, and they actually committed to the run for once. I'm sure the Broncos assumed Eli would continue throwing the ball 50 times a game instead of handing the ball off. I couldn't name one Giants WR that's healthy at the moment. They also have a decision to make... Do they trade Eli and truly tank the season?
#4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-3) 118 PF 121 PA
Last week: 38-33 L vs. Arizona
Appearances on Power Rankings: 1
We have a new team on the list! This is a future play, as Tampa has the most difficult remaining schedule in the NFL by opponent winning percentage. This beat up defense has made Case Keenum look like an All-Pro, and as recent as last week, made AP look like it was 2012 again. Winston is frustrating as hell. He makes incredible deep throws to Mike Evans one series, and the next series throws into quadruple coverage for no reason.
#5 Oakland Raiders (2-4) 124 PF 126 PA
Last week: 17-16 L vs. LA Chargers
Appearances on Power Rankings: 1
Look at that! Another new team to add to the list. If you look at other "Power Rankings" out there, you'll find them sitting cozy in the late teens, early 20's. NOT THIS LIST. When you lose 4 straight, and fail to score more than 17 points during that stretch, you deserve to be here. They were thought of as a hot Super Bowl pick, and they have their work cut out for them heading to Kansas City this week to prevent 5 straight losses. Beast Mode is a shell of his former self, and Amari Cooper must have entered the witness protection program, because he's no where to be seen this year.
Honorable Mention:
Chicago Bears (2-4) - Trubisky is giving this team a spark. They've actually got a nice 1-2 combo at RB too. Things are starting to come together here.
Indianapolis Colts (2-4) - Their defense continues to be atrocious. But they're only 1 game out of first place in what continues to be the worst division in football, the AFC South.
