Harvin traded...again!

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Seahawks had been shopping Percy Harvin for weeks.

Multiple reports suggest Harvin's "anger management issues" led to his trade to the Jets. For the Seahawks, moving on from his contract gets them out of what's left on his $11 million base salary. Harvin has no guaranteed money beyond this year and would have been a release-candidate after the season regardless. It's still an admission of failure from Seattle after they gave up first- and seventh-round picks last year, and a 2014 third-rounder for Harvin. The Seahawks will save $6.47 million in cap space by trading him, which should help towards extending Russell Wilson.

One penalty was against him, and who says he gets all three if there were no calls on the plays, he has done jack sh*t this year but get one TD that should have been called back. We went to the SB without him last year, and really did not need him to win it at all.

I'm not so sure Harvin is better than Wilson...if you're talking about athleticism, sure...nobody is more athletic than Percy. But as a complete player, give me RW

I'm not sure Harvin was elite. MAYBE on paper, and maybe in madden. But in reality, no way in hell. Fast feet only get you so far

Look at it this way:

Wilson is a great player than makes other players better.

Harvin didn't make anyone better because of his talent. Not one person. He didn't open up the run game, make opportunities for other WRs, anything.

We're starting to find out it was his attitude. He probably demanded the ball behind the scenes (which he did in Minny), and it made it hard to spread the ball around. Wilson is at his best spreading the ball around, and we saw how well the offense did trying to force touches to Harvin.

Richardson was able to run jet sweeps and has speed....If you think the Jet sweep is what Harvin was earning 13M to do and not actually run routes and get open, your mistaken.....addition by subtraction folks....

His production was not elite recently

Didn't like that we only got a conditional pick for him, but going to have to side with the FO on this one.

His BBL on the Wilson interception could have been the final straw.

What do you define as elite? He's an exciting playmaker's who's consistently hurt and has somewhat underperformed his contract.
The FO screwed up badly in acquiring him, it was a really bad move in retrospect. However I don't see Harvin as being an elite player, sorry

Amount of games missed to fake injury: 20+
Amount of practices missed at Florida, Minnesota and Seattle due to "migraines" or other excuses: 100+

Regardless of whatever else is true, it sucks to watch such a supremely talented player go to another team.

Pretty much my take; especially considering what the deal cost the team vs what they got in return.

Is he a great, even elite player? I would say yeah, sure. But it's hard to argue against production. He wasn't producing and his impact wasn't causing his teammates to produce. And when you've invested all that and still investing in all that, one or the other has to happen. Then added on with the reported off the field issues, I don't blame them for getting rid of him and cutting their loses for something if it's not working out.

Not going to say we've always used him right, but I doubt Bevell was having many problems trying to figure it out. The locker room angle makes the most sense, because he's left a trail of altercations with coaches and players dating back to his college days. Judging by the reports, he had altercations with Tate in February, Baldwin in August, then a near altercation with RW when Russ called him out for his attitude. I'm thinking that Russ was the last straw. You can get in scraps with your fellow WR, but #3 is where the line was drawn. His reluctance to play in Q4 against Dallas was just icing on the cake.

If any of this stuff is true, Percy really is a POS. These self-entitled athletes deserved to be punched in the face. Without their physical gifts, they are worth nothing. Don't understand how someone could get paid multi-millions and act like a little !@#$%

I don't mind it but I also know Harvin isn't far from Santonio Holmes in the attitude department. He's also very brittle. But he blows away our talent on offense without question and gets himself OPEN. Yes he gets himself open.

Percy Harvin is great when healthy, problem is, he's never healthy. Why trade for a durability concern in Harvin when our WR core has been plagued by injuries that past two seasons?

We are 1-6, I don't understand the timing of it all. Really confusing.

He wasn't a good fit for the Seahawks, a team that we compare to, they were willing to dump him midseason, that doesn't make anyone else nervous?

I'm optimistic as they come, I'm not saying I'm unhappy with this move, but this certainly presents a lot of question marks with this move for me.

Harvin is also a pretty damn good kick returner, people will like Harvin in that department....when he's on the field. Don't know about him on punt returns, that might be Powell's job still.

He's a dynamic player and a very nice fit and this guy will help Geno. Just a matter of attitude and injury proneness.

This creates the excuse: "Rex, what do you mean I gave you no talent? You had Percy Harvin and still couldn't make the playoffs! You're fired"

Depending on what the conditional pick is, this sounds like a desperation move on the part of Idzik in attempt to keep his job. I would have much rather we would have used the cap space for Harvin to sign a CB last off-season. With a decent CB signing this team is likely 3-4 if not 4-3 and a playoff contender.

Edit: Wow a 2nd round pick which is likely a high 2nd round pick plus a big cap hit every year he is on the roster. We got robbed.

So there were widely known rumbling that came out after the trade. Smells like fan pacifying move, but even if true -- no problem, he can be cut after this year with no penalty.

I guess you can scratch Bevell off the list of potential Rex replacements. From what I've read he couldn't stand Percy Harvin and didn't enjoy game planning for his specific skills.

That is unfair.  I am afflicted with cluster migraines, and they are debilitating, and they are very real.

Many people do not even know what migraines feel like because they associate migraines with bad headaches.  Like most people, I get bad headaches too, and migraines are not the same; clusters are so much worse.  

Getting full blown migraines every day or night for weeks or months is beyond description in the amount of pain and disability created.  It is a torture chamber with no way out and no end in sight.  Cluster migraines are called "suicide headaches" in the medical community for good reason.

People who experience cluster migraines may have other associated medical problems with inflammation or circulatory or joint problems.  I do not know if this is the case for Harvin, but I have to give him a full pass when it comes to missing practices because of his migraines.

It really is interesting to see what those fans are saying.

I'm not convinced the Jets fans are right by implying it was a desperation move on their part. I feel like it was more of a desperation move on Seattle's part. I mean, they didn't ask for much in return considering what they just gave up to get this guy with money and picks. It was more like a, "Please, please take him!" for me than an, "Oh please, oh please, oh please trade us Harvin." Nah, I think the Seahawks wanted to unload him more than the Jets couldn't live without him. That's how I see it anyway. With all of this stuff coming out, he had to go. It sounds like he was bringing down the whole locker room with his nasty 'tude. A true contender isn't going to put up with that BS, and they shouldn't have to.

I DO think it's HILARIOUS that all of this is coming out, though. Just a couple weeks ago on MNF the guys were drooling over Wilson, and they mentioned how they are such a good "team" and no matter how slow things start or how shaky things seem during the game, the team sticks together and no one calls anyone else out. Then the next week versus the Cowboys people are yelling on the sideline, and Harvin was acting like a baby...? I didn't know that at the time, but it seems that way by some of these comments about his "reluctance to play in the 4th." Not sure what that was about, but either way, you got the yelling on the sideline during the Cowboys game and now THIS crap with Harvin. The Seahawks aren't the perfect "team" like they were trying to sell us, but they probably just got a whole lot better in that department.

I'm not exactly surprised that Harvin is still acting like a toddler with his little tantrums, but man, what a fool. And if the Jets cut him after the season...I will laugh hysterically. Then expect him to be picked up by the Pats. They can fix anyone, right?

The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reported Marshawn Lynch "almost did not get on the bus" after learning of the Percy Harvin trade.

The team was informed of the Harvin trade before boarding a bus to the airport for Sunday's game at Saint Louis. Lynch reportedly "went off" before almost not boarding the bus. Lynch, Cliff Avril and Bruce Irvin also voiced displeasure about the move on Twitter. The Seahawks hoped shifting Harvin would remedy issues that had been developing in the locker room, but it appears the trade may have initially done more harm than good. Lynch is still likely to play against the Rams this weekend.

Oh, here's more confirmation...

A source tells the Seattle Times that Percy Harvin got into an altercation with Golden Tate during Super Bowl week last season, resulting in a black eye for Tate.

This confirms an initial report from The Sideline View's Lance Zierlein. A source also tells the Seattle Times that Harvin had an altercation with Doug Baldwin in August that resulted in Baldwin getting a cut on his chin. A final straw was reportedly Harvin balking about going back into last week's game against Dallas, possibly angry over not being used more early on. Zierlein was told "Harvin's anger issues are just too much to deal with and he could single handedly bring down team chemistry."

No sir, it was pretty much a random sample. There wasn't a whole lot on the Seahawks board, so what you see is the bulk of it. The Jets board on the other hand was 34 pages long. I didn't read the entire thing, I just skimmed through the early part to get their initial reaction, then I jumped toward the end when they knew more facts about the story.

Ha! I don't see that happening until he's out of the league (probably soon) and can't get another team to take a chance on him. But he'll probably keep crying until that happens thinking he'll eventually end up in the right spot. Wherever that could be. He was just on a Super Bowl contending team for crying out loud lol. Attitude wise he reminds me of Stephen Marbury when he was a Timberwolf, yes pretty talented thought he was "the guy" I think both Percy and Marbury thought they should be number 1 on their teams. Seemed to get a bad attitude when the reality set in that they weren't. Marbury was at BEST 2nd on the timberwolves obviously behind Kevin Garnett Percy in Seattle was NEVER going to be "the guy" good luck out in NY Percy screw up out there and the sports writers will have a field day with you!
